Course Overview

The WSQ Display Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills powered by Wiley (with Prompt Engineering) equips participants with essential skills to think smarter and act decisively. The course introduces logical inquiry methods, empowering learners to address and resolve complex business challenges. With the addition of Prompt Engineering using Generative AI, participants will leverage AI technology to enhance clarity, creativity, and efficiency in problem-solving. Upon completion, learners will possess the ability to make data-driven decisions, foster innovation, and present compelling solutions to stakeholders.

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

• Apply critical thinking and analytical skills for problem-solving.
• Challenge and rethink ideas to uncover better solutions.
• Analyse business issues and put forth actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
• Enhance creative thinking and collaboration among team members.
• Leverage Prompt Engineering using Generative AI to refine problem statements, generate diverse solutions, and enhance decision-making processes.

Pre-requisites

The admission requirements are:

• Demonstrated basic proficiency in relevant skills.
• Ability to apply basic skills in a work context.
• Ability to do research on the intended content.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field or role.
• English Requirement: Intermediate proficiency in English, capable of understanding and communicating more complex instructions and engaging in workplace conversations.
• For courses infused with GenAI, advanced proficiency in manipulating information in Office applications and browsers is required

  • This course will be conducted as a Face to Face or a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform.
  • Participants must own a Zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. Download from zoom.us/download.

LU1: Understand and Develop Critical Thinking Mindset

• Differences between critical and automatic thinking
• Using a process framework to think more critically
• Applying facts and observations to determine the credibility of information
• Analysing credibility of information through consistency of experience

LU2: Find the Right Problem.

• Identifying the real business issue or goal using tools
• Using a process framework to think more critically
• Helping staff to contribute and adapt to changes at the workplace
• Reading between the lines
• Speaking and listening more critically
• Interpreting ideas and using them to identify problems using outside-the-box thinking

LU3: Solve the Problem.

• Problem-solving skills
• Improve creativity by using out-of-the-box thinking and impossible thinking
• Reduce creativity barriers by using clarity tools
• Recognising issues and implications

LU4: Execute the Solution.

• Influencing and persuading stakeholders
• Identifying various stakeholders and understanding their needs
• Aligning solutions and recommendations through a corporate vision
• Rethinking ideas and making creative solutions through out-of-the-box thinking
• Identifying business ideas and how to improve on them by using critical thinking

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

• Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore
  After passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a SOA from SkillsFuture Singapore, certifying that they have achieved the following Competency Standard(s):
