Course Overview

This coaching course is Module 1 of the Khrysalis Coaching Series, an International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited programme. Completing the full series, which consists of three modules, qualifies participants to apply for the Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential from ICF.

Participants will explore coaching at an international standard and recognise essential coaching competencies. The course covers different coaching personas, and the appropriate application of coaching methods to create an effective coaching moment. Participants will discover key coaching issues, learn about active listening, barriers to effective listening, and techniques to improve listening. The course emphasises developing questioning skills, defining actions, and ensuring accountability. Completing this internationally recognised coaching certification can open various career opportunities in the coaching field such as Professional Coaches, Leadership Coaches, and Corporate coaches within organisations.

 

This course meets the International Coaching Federation (ICF) standards requirements.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the standards and ethical considerations related to providing coaching
  • Acquire techniques to develop an effective coaching conversation for goal setting and collaborate with “coachee” to set goals and define specific development areas
  • Demonstrate active listening methods and types of questioning techniques and models
  • Provide effective coaching feedback

Prerequisites

Participants should be able to speak, listen and read English at a proficiency level not lower than the Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualification (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 7.

Part 1: Coaching Defined

  • Compare coaching with other developmental methods
  • Define coaching vs mentoring
  • Learn the benefits of coaching
  • Determining the suitability of using coaching based on the client profile

Part 2: The Coaching Toolbox

  • Manage issues in coaching
  • Learn listening skills for coaching
  • Set the coaching parameter
  • Learn questioning techniques for coaching
  • Define Actions vs Accountability

Part 3: The Coaching Models

  • Build a clear understanding of basic coaching models to apply
  • Eg: OSKAR, GROW Coaching etc

Part 4: The Coaching Practice

  • Action speaks louder than words
  • Engage in a reflection exercise
  • Demonstrate the coaching conversation

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Participants who have successfully demonstrated competence in all the knowledge and skills requirements in this programme will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SOA) by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
  • Certificate of Participation from NTUC LearningHub

Upon meeting at least 100% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Participation from NTUC LearningHub.

Funding Eligibility Criteria:

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • The trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from the trainee if he/she does not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

SkillsFuture Credit:

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

UTAP:

  • This course is eligible for the Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
  • NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP.

PSEA:

  • To check for Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) eligibility for this course, visit:

  • Scroll down to “Keyword Tags” to verify for PSEA eligibility.

Absentee Payroll (AP) Funding:

  • $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year.
  • AP funding will be computed based on the actual number of training hours attended by the trainee.
  • Note: Courses / Modules under Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) will not be eligible for AP funding claim.
