Vocational License Courses
Taxi/ Private Hire Vocational License Courses 
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) issues two types of licences which include the Taxi Driver Vocational Licence (TDVL) and Private Hire Car Driver Vocational Licence (PDVL). TDVL holders are licensed to drive both a taxi and a private hire car in Singapore, while PDVL holders are only licensed to drive private hire cars.

Refresher Courses
Enrolling for Refresher Courses

The Land Transport Authority mandates that all drivers complete a driving refresher course in Singapore once every six years from the date of issuance of the vocational license. View PDVL Refresher, Taxi Refresher (Active Driver) or (Non-Active Driver) courses.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about the LTA Vocational Licence

To enrol in the TDVL course, you must have the following qualifications.

  • Being Singapore citizen between 30 and 75 years old
  • Having a valid Class 3 or 3A Singapore driving licence
  • Having a GCE ‘O’ Level or ‘N’ Level pass in English (at least a D7 grade) or a Grade 3 in the WPL pre-CAT assessment test.

Apply for the LTA vocational licence via GoBusiness Licensing Portal. Then, await the Approval-to-Course (ATC) letter and get a medical check up done at Kingston Medical/ SATA upon receiving it.

Once you have passed through these initial steps, you can get enrolled in the TDVL course at NTUC LearningHub. You can use your SkillsFuture credit to fund your learning journey. Once you successfully complete the course, you will be able to obtain your LTA vocational licence and start your career.

TDVL and PDVL renewal happens once every three years. The LTA will send a renewal notice 2.5 months before the expiration date, and the renewal requirements include,

  • Passing a medical examination
  • Completing a driving refresher course in Singapore
  • Ensuring MediSave contributions with an appropriate plan recommended by the Central Provident Fund Board (CPF).
